Lale Zar was a symbol of modernism and art in Iran during the time of Ahmad Shah Qajar and the early Pahlavi era, and was known as the “Champs-Élysées of Tehran”. Many theaters, restaurants, trade centers, cabarets, distilleries, tailors, cinemas, and famous shops in Iran were located on this street. The music style of Iranian bazaar alleys was also born in this area.
